Summer is upon us and the time has come to update and plan your closet for the coming season. We have rounded up some of Summer 2018 trends to get you and your wardrobe ahead in the style stakes, we have also included some of our favorite season pieces at Retold…..You can thank us later!
The Color Palette:
Bold Bright’s and Power Pastels
It appears anything goes this season whether you’re into bold colours like Cherry Red, Poppy Pink, Vibrant Yellow and Bright Orange or Pastel colours like Lemon, Lilac, Bubble Gum Pink, Peach, Baby Blue and Pistachio. Like I said it appears anything goes! Take inspiration from a Carola Crayon Set or the macaroon counter at Ladurée the choice is yours. One of the perks about Retold is they have actually colour-coded everything for your ease, so this will certainly help when selecting your pieces.

The Prints and Patterns:
Polka Dots, Florals
Dreamy dresses, skirts and tops with either a polka dot or floral print are what you need to be summer ready. A top tip for picking out the right print for you – If you have a strong level of contrast in your colouring (fair skin, dark eyes and dark hair) you suit bold prints and can take on a bold contrast like black and white. If you have less contrast between your hair, skin and eyes you should opt for a softer contrast like pink and white. Keeping this in mind when shopping will make sure people notice you and not your clothes first! Shop the styles below:
[SKIRT: Label: Blaque Label, Size: Small, Price: 160AED]
[DRESS: Label: French Connection, Size: UK10, Price: 200AED]
The Details:
Sequins, Fringe, Frills/Ruffles, Feathers
In keeping with the 80’s era we say hello to over-the-top embellishment, and this is one trend we are oh so happy about! Don’t let go of your sequins from the Dec 17’ party season as you will continue glittering through summer with these pieces. Fringe on jackets, tops, and bags are all in fashion but not the kind we have seen in past seasons, this time it’s a little more sophisticated and structured. Any addition of Feathers, Frills and Ruffles you can add to your look will keep you on point this summer and give your outfit a feminine touch.
The Era:
1980’s
The eighties are back, which can only mean big shoulders, boxy blouses, jackets with nipped in waists, puffed sleeved tops, high waisted straight leg jeans and slouchy boots. There’s a lot of pick from, and we’ll be back later in the summer to show you some of our favourite finds at Retold.
The Basics To Add:
Midi Length Pencil Skirt, Trouser Suit
Sleek and sophisticated pencil skirts with a longer hem line are a new addition to add to your wardrobe which will replace your fuller midi skirts this season. Trouser Suits in an array of colors – think bold primary or soft pastel colors are staples which will follow you through long after the summer season. Keep an eye on the Retold Instagram stories as you’re sure to see some excellent options pop up there!
The Shoes:
Chunky Sneakers
Thick-soled trainers are one trend we can’t get onboard with, we prefer to keep sneakers slim, sleek and feminine. However, if you want to add this one to your closet why not soften the look with a bright colour, like:
[TRAINERS: Label: Nike, Size: 39, Price: 380AED]
The Bags and Belts:
Belt Bags, See Through Bags, Statement Waist Belt
The clear PVC Bag is in fashion, making it the perfect accessory to take you from the beach to the street along with the super practical belt/bum bag, which is worn on your waist or crossbody in either a sporty or sophisticated style. Since the 80’s is BACK you will need a waist clinching belt to add to jackets, shirts and just about anything and everything!
