To spend or not to spend… that is the question.
It’s an age old question when it comes to clothes, should I splurge on this item or find a similar dupe for often times less than half the price? Sometimes it’s about looking for quality, other times it’s seeking out some staple pieces for your wardrobe, so how are we possibly to decide which option to pick!
To be honest, at RETOLD we don’t think there is an answer! What you choose to spend your money on is entirely up to you. Whether it’s a classic white tee from your favourite designer brand or a beautiful evening dress from the sale section of your go-to Highstreet brand, both options are a great investment if they make you happy and you know that it’s going to take pride of place in your wardrobe.
That being said, we’ve compiled five classic looks ranging from our higher and lower priced selections for you to peruse if you’re looking for a bit of style inspiration for this spring season.
(Number 1) Out and about: Classic white tee/Denim shirt/Sneakers.
A classic combo to start off with is the relaxed white tee and denim, perfect for running errands or just relaxing on the weekend.
Our option to spend (right) includes a Dubai-exclusive “Yalla Dubai” white tee from Orlebar Brown (150 AED), a dark ripped demin skirt from Missguided (60 AED) and a pair of Adidas black sneakers (100 AED) which brings the total to 310 AED.
If you’re not looking to splash however, our save option (left) includes a club champion shirt from Reebok (50 AED), a light button down denim skirt (60 AED) and a pair of chunky sneakers from MANGO (100) which brings the total to 210 AED.
(Number 2) Looking to play: Floral dress/Denim jacket/Sneakers.
This is another classic look, perfect for meeting friends for lunch or for going on a day-time date. We’ve opted for short lacy dresses with a floral pattern to add an extra dash of fun to the look.
If you’re looking to splurge then this pink lace dress from Liu Jo Milano (350 AED) is perfect (left). We’ve paired it with a dark denim jacket from I exchange (150 AED) and a pair of dusty purple LK Bennett sneakers (70 AED) which brings the total to 570 AED.
Alternatively our save option is just as cute, including a yellow lace dress from Relish girl (120 AED) a light wash denim jacket from River Island (100 AED) and a pair of black puma trainers (80 AED) which brings the total to 300 AED.
(Number 3) Meaning Business: Pencil skirt/Blazer/Blouse/Pumps.
Whether you’re on your way to a weekly meeting or about to deliver a big proposal, at RETOLD we believe that if you look your best you do your best.
If you want to go all out for the office, this black and silver tone look is definitely a must-have (right). We picked out this tweed jacket from LK Bennett (400 AED), a white blouse with ruffle detailing from Zara (80 AED), a black and silver pencil skirt from LK Bennett (300 AED) and adorable black bow heels from Kate Spade (200 AED) which brings the total to 980 AED.
If you’d rather save on your office attire, this Highstreet look is right up your alley(left). We chose a long red blazer from Zara (130 AED), a white shirt with ruffle detailing from Zara (80 AED), a pair of fitted black trousers from Banana Republic (100 AED) and a pair of black heels from Steve Madden (100 AED) which brings the total to 410 AED.
(Number 4) C stands for Chic: Little Black dress/Purse/Heels
The classic going out number coined by Coco Channel, the little black dress is timeless and a staple for every woman’s wardrobe.
If you prefer to splurge on your wardrobe staples this flowy and boho-inspired outfit is for you(right). We chose this little black dress with flowy black sleeves by Milly (550 AED), a jewel-studded gold filigree bag with no specific label (100 AED) and dark green Alexander McQueen heels (900 AED) which brings the total to 1,550 AED.
Alternatively if you prefer to save this modern version could be what you’re looking for(left). We picked out this strappy dress from Missguided (100 AED) and a classic black bag (100 AED) with a pair of classic pumps from Aldo (150 AED) which brings the total to 350 AED.
(Number 5) Simply going out: Jeans/Heels/Going out top.
Our final look is a dressed down alternative to the favourite LBD and is perfect for when you want to look nice without looking too dressed up.
Our splurge look includes a real statement top which is sure to be a hit at any brunch or cocktail night (left). We picked out this Dulce and Gabbana mesh corset top (800 AED), a pair of dark denim jeans (350 AED) and heels from Armani Exchange (400 AED) which brings the total to 1,550 AED.
If you rather save a pretty penny than this floral look might be more your speed. We chose a sweet floral print wrap top from H&M (80 AED), a pair of light wash denim jeans (100 AED) and a pair of strappy statement heels from Zara (150 AED) which brings the total to 330 AED.
